Zombie Tab Defense is a Chrome extension that automatically closes browser tabs created by deep links when apps like Figma, Miro, Notion, Sketch, Framer, and Airtable launch externally. This privacy policy explains what data the extension handles, where it stays, and what it never does.
Zombie Tab Defense stores the following information locally on your device only, using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API:
None of this data ever leaves your device. It is never transmitted to any server, third party, or external service.
Zombie Tab Defense does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of the following:
tabs — Required to detect when a new tab has been created by a deep link, and to close it automatically. The extension does not read tab contents or browsing history.
activeTab — Required to determine whether the current tab was newly created (and therefore a zombie tab), rather than one the user intentionally navigated to.
storage — Required to save your custom URL patterns, removed defaults, and kill statistics locally on your device between sessions.
notifications — Used to display a brief system notification when a zombie tab has been automatically closed.
host permissions (figma.com, miro.com, notion.so, sketch.com, framer.com, airtable.com) — Required to run a content script on these domains to detect when a tab is a zombie deep link tab. The extension reads only the URL of the page — it does not read page content, form data, or any other information.
Zombie Tab Defense does not integrate with, send data to, or load code from any third-party service. The extension contains no analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, or remote scripts of any kind.
The extension popup includes links to the developer's LinkedIn profile and Buy Me a Coffee page. These links open in a new browser tab when clicked — no data is sent to these services automatically or without user action.
Zombie Tab Defense does not load or execute any remote code. All extension code is bundled locally within the extension package and reviewed by the Chrome Web Store.
All data stored by the extension (custom patterns, preferences, and statistics) lives entirely on your local device in Chrome's local storage. You can clear this data at any time by removing the extension or clearing Chrome's extension storage.
Zombie Tab Defense does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The extension collects no personal data whatsoever.
If this privacy policy changes in a meaningful way, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be updated. Since the extension collects no user data, material changes are unlikely.
